A content management system (CMS) is a software application that enables users to create, manage, and publish digital content on websites without needing to write code from scratch. A CMS generally has two main parts:

Content Management Application (CMA): This is the private part where authors login to interact with the authoring system. It enables them to add, edit, link and remove content (like text, images, and videos). Content Delivery Application (CDA): It takes the content you create in the CMA and assembles it for display ito visitors on the live website. The Digitalfire Reference Library is a CDA, assembling information from the two systems into a coherent website.
